To prevent aviation incidents in its fight against the Taliban, the U.S. military needed a new weather station that was low-profile, easily transportable, rapidly deployable, and capable of measuring at least eight key weather parameters with aviation-grade accuracy. This case study from Intellisense Systems details the many breakthroughs that engineers made in the development of the Micro Weather Station (MWS^®), including innovations in smaller size, the integration of data processing and communications, and the inclusion of solar power. It explores the many challenges that the U.S. military faced in Afghanistan and how the MWS met many of those challenges and ensured soldier safety.
