Custom Platforms & Tools

Every product we develop at Intellisense tackles a specific problem facing our customers. Many of these projects require specialized tools to design, fabricate, and test the solutions to their challenges. As an innovative solution provider, Intellisense has developed unique platforms and devices that can further advance a product or help in the development of a new one. In addition, these customized tools have potential to be commercialized in many other applications and markets as well.

This page details examples of the customized platforms and tools we have developed to advance our latest innovations and solve our clients’ demanding tasks. Explore how our simulators, projectors, and non-destructive testing capabilities are taking the latest tech innovations to even greater heights.

Simulators / Projectors

Just as the human pilots being trained by fly simulators, many of Intellisense’s customers must train and test their unmanned platforms such as distinguishing heat signatures from the terrain to accurately hit their targets. Intellisense has created various simulators and projectors to test the Department of Defense’s specialized sensors and navigation. The customized system projects multi-spectral, high-resolution and dynamic scenes in ground test environments to meet the testing requirements for the Department of Defense’s highly complex EO systems.

Specialized Equipment

Throughout its history, Intellisense has devised one-of-a-kind solutions for unique problems by integrating advanced sensing technologies into small, resilient, and accessible packages. One of these solutions provides navigational guidance to aircraft landing on improvised, unpaved, or remote runways. This innovation leveraged previous developments in surveying technology to create a tool that could be rapidly deployed, and at a fraction of the cost of existing systems. See how Intellisense engineers combined an unattended ground sensor with a simple drone to create a complete 3D scan of a potential landing area.

Non-Destructive Evaluation / Testing

Using advanced radio frequency, terahertz (THz), and ultra-sonic technologies, end users can evaluate the interiors of sophisticated equipment without having to make any openings, cuts, or breakages. Intellisense is also advancing this essential non-destructive testing and evaluation to detect debris on airplanes that is invisible to the human eye (like shaved carbon fiber filaments). Identifying this debris is critical to saving costs in the manufacturing process and preventing issues with aircraft when they are in flight.

Structural Sensors

Determining the resiliency, durability, and potential breaking point of cables and rope – particularly those on parachutes or securing large boats to docks – is an imposing challenge. Intellisense innovated the use of conductive, polymer-core fibers that can transmit the tension on parachutes and helicopter-mounted suspension lines and automatically calculate when they need to be replaced. This technology offers a nondestructive means of electronically inspecting ropes and providing a cost-effective way to evaluate the lifespan of essential slings and cables.
