John Nichols
John Nichols is the Co-owner and Partner of the Potomac Advocates, a premier defense and aerospace consulting firm. John began is career as an Air Force Intelligence Officer, completing deployments in Greece, Korea, and the Philippines. In 1992, he was assigned to the Pentagon, where he served first in Air Force Legislative Liaison before moving to the Office of Secretary of Defense in 1994. He was awarded the Defense Superior Service Medal for outstanding achievements while working for the Secretary of Defense. John served a distinguished career in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel.
In 1996, John joined The Raytheon Company, serving first as the Director of Special Programs in Congressional Relations office, then as Vice President, Congressional Relations, Defense Programs. He then served as the Vice President, Government Relations at United Technologies Corporation (UTC).
John holds a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from Cornell University. He also holds a master’s degree in Administration from Central Michigan University and a master’s degree in Airpower Art and Science from Air University. In addition to his advisory role at Intellisense, he serves on the Advisory Committee for the Intelligence and National Security Alliance (INSA). He is also a Senior Fellow at the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies.
